FAQ

BY DONORS:

How does our company receive this enhanced deduction?

IDEA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt public charity approved by the IRS to solicit manufacturers for donations
of industrial inventory components to be used by non-profit technical schools.

Donors may deduct contributions as provided in section
170(e)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The deduction for
regular “C” corporations is equal to the cost of the
inventory donated plus half the difference between cost
and the fair market value, but not to exceed twice the inventory cost.

Why should we choose IDEA over other donation organizations?

While other donation organizations have excellent programs, IDEA is the only one that specializes in large quantities of excess industrial parts and components. Our staff’s 30+
years of excess inventory management gives IDEA the
skills and knowledge to sort & distribute the proper items
to qualified schools.

How do we know that our inventory won’t end up on the surplus market?

IDEA’s members are all approved non-profit organizations that are required to use any donated material in compliance with IRS Code Sect. 170(e)(3) and can not sell, barter, or
trade any items.

BY SCHOOLS

Free Inventory? What’s the catch?

It’s true! IDEA solicits industrial inventory donations from manufacturers for use in training financially disadvantaged youth to become highly trained productive workers.

Are there any restrictions on the use of this material?

Yes, all members must agree to use any inventory according to Internal Revenue Code 170(e)(3), stating that the inventory received must be used in the care of the ill, the needy or minors and cannot be sold, traded, or bartered.

What is the IDEA Wish List?

When you send us your “Wish List”, we have a better understanding of the types of items needed at your school.
It also helps us when we are sorting material as it is received.

Is there any related fees or charges?

Qualified schools pay a small annual membership fee
to participate in our donation program. Related distribution/handling fees apply for each shipment.

How do we get signed up?

It’s easy to get started! Complete the Member Information Request form or contact a Member Representative at (877) 508-6463
